First Aid Trainer conducts first aid training courses in a variety of settings to a range of clients including corporate clients, school students, community groups and other members of the public.
First Aid Trainer may perform the following tasks:
- Providing t trainees with accurate information regarding emergency aid
- Demonstrating how first aid should be carried out
- Demonstrating how to use equipment
- Cleaning and maintaining equipment and resources
- Managing records of course attendees
- Assessing First Aid capabilities of the group and awarding qualifications to those who have met the criteria and standards
- Organising courses and arranging times and locations with attendees booking on courses
- Sending out information regarding courses and marketing future courses
This occupation belongs to Regional Occupation List (ROL). Regional Occupation List consists of the list of the occupations which are high in demand in regional states and territories of Australia.

First Aid Trainer is classified as Group D occupations by Vetassess. The criteria for skills assessment of Group D occupations are the following:
- Qualification(s) assessed at AQF Certificate IV with a highly relevant field of study and at least one year of post-qualification highly relevant employment completed in the last five years;Or
- Qualification(s) assessed at AQF Certificate IV without a highly relevant field of study and at least two years of post-qualification highly relevant employment completed in the last five years;Or
- Qualification(s) assessed at AQF Certificate III with a highly relevant field of study and at least three years of post-qualification highly relevant employment completed in the last five years;
According to Vetassess, if you have pre-qualification employment and if all of your employment is before your qualifications assessed at the AQF Certificate III or Certificate IV level), three years of highly relevant employment in addition to at least one year of highly relevant employment at an appropriate skill level completed in the last five years.
