Social Worker added to PMSOL

The Department of Home Affairs announced that on 27 November 2020, the Priority Migration Skilled Occupation List (PMSOL) was updated to include the occupation of Social Worker (272511)

The new chnage is based on the advice from the National Skills Commission.

The Priority Migration Skilled Occupation List (PMSOL) is based on advice from the National Skills Commission (NSC) and consultation with other Commonwealth departments. In order to ensure the PMSOL remains responsive to the changing skilled workforce needs of businesses, the NSC continues to monitor the impact of COVID-19 upon the Australian labour market and skills needs as they evolve and new sources of data emerge.

If you wish to migrate to Australia as a social worker, you are required to have your skills assessed by the relevant skill authority.

The assessment authority for this occupation is the Australian Association of Social Workers(AASW) and the AASW skills assessment will assess if your educational qualifications and work experience are at a professional level and closely related to your nominated occupation for migration purposes.
