Pool & Pass Marks for General Skilled Migration Visas
A new legislative instrument registered on 31/10/2019 specifies the pool and pass marks for the Subclass 491.
The instrument set the pool and pass marks at 65 for the “points” for the following visas where an application is made on or after 16 November 2019:
- Subclass 189 (Skilled—Independent) visa;
- Subclass 190 (Skilled—Nominated) visa:
- Subclass 491 (Skilled Work Regional (Provisional)) visa
The new subclass 491 visa requires skilled migrants and their families to spend five years living, working and studying in specified Australian regional areas. After three years visa holders will be eligible for permanent residence visas.

491 visa holders are eligible for Medicare. Medicare is Australia's universal health scheme. It is a system of the Commonwealth government program that provides access to a wide range of health services for all residents ( and some foreign visitors) at little or no cost.
